 tedsheadshotthumbnail1thumbnail.JPG Changes in the Air for Local Airport Influence Area Zoning Since January 2004, it has been required by sellers to disclose whether or not the property in question is within an Airport Influence Area. These areas outline where airport-related noise, overflight, safety factors may significantly affect the desirability of a property.

Two airports, San Francisco International and Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose are soon to see changes to their mapped influence areas.

Earlier this year the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo County received federal funding to update the Comprehensive Airport Land Use Plan (CLUP) for San Francisco International Airport. The final product will consist of an update of the existing San Mateo CLUP dated December 1996. The document will include policies and criteria to achieve airport/land use compatibility for future development within a defined Airport Influence Area boundary. Final approval of a consultant team and contract approval is expected at the August 9 C/CAG Board Meeting. The project will take about two to three years to complete.

Revised zones for Reid-Hillview Airport will likely be adopted by the Santa Clara County Airport Land Use Commission in late Summer 2007. The increased size of the area will affect property between Highway 101 and King Road from Highway 680 to Aborn Road, and property between Highway 680 and Story Road east of Highway 101 to White Road.
